議題「環境と先住民族」にて
以下のステートメントを発表しました。

環境と先住民族
私たちは世界の先住民族の兄弟に日本で起きていることを伝えたい。
日本は人類が経験したことのない危険な領域に踏み込んだ。
巨大な地震が日本を襲った。
想像を絶する破壊のあとに
我々の前に姿を現したのは
世界の先住民族のどの神話にも登場したこととのない
永遠の命を持つ凶悪で情け容赦ない最強の悪神だった。その名は放射能。
原子力を崇拝した人間は安全神話を作った。
安全だ、絶対漏れない、どんな地震にも耐えられるという神話だ。
しかし耐えられるはずの原子炉はメルトダウンし安全神話は崩れ去った。
いま私たちはなす術もなく呆然と放射能が漏れるのを眺めている。
毎日想像を絶する量の放射線が拡散し、農作物、海産物の汚染が拡大している。
福島の子供たちは毎日高濃度の放射能を浴びながら学校に通う。
呼吸や食事で体に入った放射線物質は生命の設計図である遺伝子を切り刻みを破壊し続ける。
原子力は経済を発展させるかもしれないが
原子力は人を幸せにしない。
人間は原子力発電所を作ることはできるがコントロールできない。
原子力は人に
底知れぬ恐怖と無常感を植え付ける。
原子力を推進する国は電力会社を守るが国民は守らない。
ウラン鉱石はアボリジニのテリトリーで採掘され、インディアン居住区に捨てられる。
私は先住民族の兄弟に原子力に対する注意を促すとともに核の廃絶にむけて先住民族が協力し、
新たな一歩を踏みだすことを切に希望します。

We would like to let our indigenous brothers and sisters know what is going on in Japan right now.
Japan has entered an uncharted territory for humanity. A major earthquake hit Japan. After the unimaginable destruction, there emerged a vicious demon that no indigenous mythology in the world has known. Its name is radiation.
The humans that worship nuclear power built the myth of safety. It is safe. There will never be a leak. No earthquake will affect it. But all that myth was broken and the nuclear reactor faced a meltdown. Now we’re looking powerlessly at the nuclear leak. Everyday, an unimaginable amount of radiation is spread to contaminate our produce and seafood.
Children in Fukushima go to school everyday risking exposure to a high level of radiation. Radioactive material inhaled through air or food could destroy our biological foundation.
Nuclear power might contribute to economic development but it will not make people happy. Humans can make nuclear plants but can’t control them. Nuclear power sows the seeds of fear and uncertainty. The government that promotes nuclear power protects power companies but not the citizens.
Uranium ores are mined in the territories of indigenous peoples and their wastes are dumped near indigenous peoples’ residences.
We would like our indigenous brothers and sisters to pay closer attention to the threat of nuclear power and sincerely hope that we will unite and take a step toward stopping all nuclear development.
